The reality is that our first adoption happened much faster than we anticipated, and we thought that our second would be no different. However, there have been changes in the adoption process both in America and abroad that we don't have any control over, and those changes have slowed us down. It took us a little longer this time to get all of our paperwork together, because, well... three kids. Once our paperwork got to the US government, we learned that all of the immigration employees were undergoing training, which slowed down the approval. We didn't think much of it, and we eventually got our approval letter without too much of a headache. While all of our paperwork was being sent to Poland to be translated, we heard news that some appeals were being made that could slow down our case in the court system. In addition to this, there have been changes in the foreign government. I won't go into all of the details here, but we're hopeful that the changes are being worked through and our case is going to be approved soon.
Our life while we wait has not been uneventful. We have much to keep our minds occupied, with parenting, work, life, and parenting. This school year, we have a preschooler, a kindergartener, and a first grader. All three are in speech therapy at school. Gabe started soccer, and the girls are taking gymnastics. Up until recently, we have spent most of our extra time working on fundraising, writing grants, and just keeping up with life with three kiddos. But with all of the waiting and changes, we've gotten a little antsy! So, this past weekend, we started getting the girls' new room ready. We made a trip to IKEA to get bunk beds for the basement and some toy storage for Gabe's room. The girls made the move downstairs last night, and they were ecstatic. Thankfully, they are really excited about their little sister coming home. We've also been putting together a care package to send to Evangeline.
Some days I'm thankful that our life is so busy, because I don't have time to sit around and cry. I would have bet a million dollars in August that we would at least have travel dates by now... if not home already snuggling our littlest girl. But the Lord is still good. His plans are always better. We waited five long years to have children, and He blessed us with the three most precious children at the most perfect time. He knew best. We know exactly where our little Evangeline is, and we are grateful that we get to see pictures and updates often. She is safe, healthy, and growing like a weed. We just can't wait for her to be with her forever family.
